Larger Corner Radius for SPLT14 Insert Improves Tool Life |
 The Quad Drill+ SPLT14 insert used in drills from 1.719” to 2.00” has changed. The 0.8 mm (.0314”) corner radius on the current SPLT140508N-PH insert has changed to 1.2 mm (.0472”) corner radius, insert SPLT140512N-PH.
The 1.2 mm (.0472”) radius in Lab testing has shown 30%-50% greater tool life over the smaller 0.8mm radius.
When using the larger radius, the drill diameter will be reduced by .0019” on diameter. That is well within the tolerance ban when running indexable drills. |

Side Port Expands Application of Quad Drill+ |
All Quad Drill+ drills are supplied with (2) _-18 NPT coolant ports as standard (One port in the end of the shank and one from the side).
The standard shank designation is “N” for side port drills.
Example: Part number Q0381152N7R01 (N7 is the standard shank designation is for side port, 1.500” diameter shank). Side port drills are commonly used on lathe applications where access to the end coolant port is blocked.
